Eugenie Heebe/
Mountaineering Program Head,
WOW & AHA Coordinator
Eugenie was born and
raised in Metairie, LA. However, she grew up at GA,
spending her summers at Glen Arden as a camper, JCT, and
counselor from 1980-1992. As a counselor, Eugenie took
campers rock climbing and backpacking as part of the
mountaineering staff.
Eugenie graduated
from the University of the South (Sewanee) with a
Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 1992. In 1997, she
received a a Master of Arts degree in History from
Arizona State University. She's traveled around the
world independently, and her work experience is as
eclectic as her travels, including first mate,
landscaper, outdoor education instructor, program
coordinator and researcher for Save the Children
Federation, Inc., and Peace Corps volunteer in Senegal.
Eugenie jumped on the opportunity to return to Glen
Arden as the director of the mountaineering program this
past summer and also to return as a full time year round
staff member.
Maggie Murphy/
Associate Director, Head Counselor
Maggie hails from Saint Simons Island, Georgia and has
also spent many summers here at Glen Arden. As a camper,
Maggie came for eight years, enjoying dance, canoeing,
and horseback riding, among other activities. Maggie
took a seven year hiatus, and while she was gone she
worked other jobs such as a nanny for five summers and
lifeguarding at The Cloister on Sea Island for three
summers. Maggie was also given the chance to travel to
Europe three times, studying abroad in Innsbruck, Austria and
gaining college credit.
Maggie graduated from Brenau University Women's College,
located in Gainesville, GA with a Bachelor of Science
degree in Early Childhood Education. Maggie has taught
both gymnastics and dance while on staff and she is
looking forward to being on staff year round and cannot
wait to get on the road!
Mallory Cook/
Associate Director, Head Counselor
Mallory is from Orlando, Florida and has been a part of
Glen Arden for as long as she can remember. This past
summer was her 16th summer spent in the beautiful
mountains of North Carolina. She has been a camper, a
JCT, a clan leader and a counselor in her many years
here. While on staff Mallory has instructed archery,
tennis, and volleyball.
Mallory has recently graduated from Clemson University
located in Clemson, SC with a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Communication Studies and Economics. During her time in
school, Mallory was involved in Alpha Delta Pi and the
Student Alumni Association. It has been a very natural
progression for Mallory to take the position as
Associate Director. She has a great deal of experience
here at CGA! She is very excited about the job and can't
wait to see everyone throughout the year.
