The Riding Program at Glen Arden is varied. On opening day, we give riding tests in order to place campers in the correct classes. Lessons are taught in two rings according to skill.

After classes each day, campers who choose to become Horse Masters can return to the barn to adopt a horse. They learn the care and feeding of their horse and when the Horse Show comes at the end of camp, Horse Masters prepare their horses for Presentation Class.

During the summer, campers who are ready can go on extensive overnight rides on our many trails. A highlight of the program has become a week-long camping and riding trip in the Biltmore Estate. At the end of camp, the judged Horse Show results in selection of Junior and Senior Champions, and ribbons awarded in all classes. The Director of the Equestrian Program is Barbara Exum, a respected and well-known, charter member of Belle Meade Hunt.
