Glen Arden is located in the midst of acre upon acre of backwoods mountain land, crossed by numerous streams and creeks. Our camping program takes full advantage of these natural settings. Seven cabanas spread throughout the property serve as shelter for every camper as she camps out at least once during her camp session.
In camp, there are specious and beautiful grassy fields for sports and games, tennis courts, an olympic pool, screened cabins, and a large barn for our horses.
The lake and gym are at the center of camp. You always can find some fun at these locations. The gym has end rooms with large stone fireplaces for chilly mornings or for clan meetings. The gym, spans the Falls of Arden, providing the campers with beautiful views of the lake and waterfall while playing. Our very own sliding rock is located just down-stream from the gym at the foot of the falls.
Several other buildings around the property play host to weaving, wood carving, riflery, woodworking and drama.
The Glen Arden Infirmary is staffed by our own resident nurses. Large hospitals are located nearby in Hendersonville and Greenville.
Our two story Dining Hall bustles with activity. The lower level houses the Canteen, Arts and Crafts, Pottery, the Mountaineering Room, and Library. The Kitchen and Dining Hall are on the second level. Camp’s kitchen has a Chef and Baker who provide healthful meals with locally grown food and freshly baked bread. We maintain the highest Grade A health rating from the Henderson County Health Department.
At meals, endless songs are sung, dances are danced, and exciting announcements are made. Each morning the entire camp assembles for breakfast at our family-style tables, and our camp prayer and "Thought for the Day" are shared.
