Water activities are one of the fixtures of our program. Campers have an abundance of opportunities to participate in our exciting water programs. At our olympic pool, you will find campers participating in swim instruction, playing volleyball, water polo or rehearsing a water ballet. Follow the laughter and sounds of joy to the lake where campers blob, take a thrilling ride on our rope swing, or enjoy a
a spin around the lake in a canoe, kayak or paddle board.
Every Glen Arden girl learns to swim. After the opening day's assessment, campers are placed into classes taught by WSI's who are American Red Cross certified instructors. We also teach diving and lifeguarding as part of the program. Lanes are designed for practice for those on hometown swimming teams. At the end of camp we have a swim meet and everyone participates. Beginning canoeing and kayaking are taught on our camp lake and continue with numerous out of camp trips. Western North Carolina has some of the best
whitewater rivers in the country, and we go to the Nantahala, Ocoee, Chattooga, French Broad, and Tuckaseegee.
Last but not least, we go on regular water hikes in the creeks and streams which crisscross the forest of Glen Arden.
